"I've found that traditional advertising
will only take you so far," observes Law-
rence, whose marketing mix includes radio
and a sponsorship with MLB's houston as-
tros. "It's harder than ever to get the public's
attention, and I wanted something that
would stop them in their tracks and make
them say, `Wow! Look at that!' Kids love it,
parents love it, and every time they see it,
they think of Bubbles Car Wash."
Two years ago, Lawrence gave veteran art
car creators Frank Yoculan, Jr. (sculpture
and paint) and Thomas gomiak (welding
and electrical) the chance to transform the
hummer into an attention-getting device.
The street-legal vehicle features a hand-
carved "bubble" sculpture fashioned from
a solid piece of polystyrene foam which
conceals four large bubble machines.
Bubbles adheres to the recommended
environmentally-friendly practices of the
International Car Wash association and
local municipalities with regard to the re-
sponsible disposal of water and cleaning
products generated by the car-cleaning
process.
